Teacher Training Course
Becoming an Alexander Technique Practitioner
Tasmania, the birthplace of Alexander, is also home to my AUSTAT accredited Alexander Technique teacher training course. This course is designed for individuals who aspire to become teachers of the Alexander Technique and are ready learn how to care for yourself while teaching others to do the same.
Course Overview
The course duration is approximately three years. Each working week consists of 12-20 hours spread over at least three days. RPL and RCC can be applied for.
Our Philosophy
We believe in the unity of physical, mental, and energetic self. Our approach emphasizes having fun, staying curious, and remaining open to positive change. We focus on working with people in the performing arts, but our graduates will be competent in working with people of all ages and abilities.
Course Structure
Each year of the course offers a unique focus.
- First Year: Emphasises self-work and the basic principles of the Alexander Technique. Trainees will also complete an anatomy course.
- Second Year: Trainees begin "hands-on" work and exploring their individual areas of interest. A student clinic is conducted in the last term.
- Third Year: Emphasises the art of teaching, and running and marketing an Alexander Technique practice. Trainees will conduct a student clinic each term.
Schedule
Hours can be determined collectively depending on trainees work hours. Maximum of 4 trainees. Monday nights and Tuesday mornings are the only set times. Our academic year follows the regular school terms, comprising four 9-week terms.
Fees
The annual fee is $12,000, payable in $3,000 amounts at the commencement of each term. Payment plans or pay as you go can be an option. Additional costs include textbooks, AUSTAT student membership, and an allocation for a residential.
Skills Developed
Our graduates will be competent in running group classes, specializing in the performing arts, running a teaching practice, and marketing the Alexander Technique.

I've found that this venue with a beautiful view of the sea fosters a relaxed learning environment, which is integral for mastering the Alexander Technique. Here I can form a more personal connection with my students, enhancing their learning experience and the overall effectiveness of the technique.
